  Introduction

The “network effects” of a global culture has been perfectly exemplified [v. 作为…的典范,是…的典型]: the more people learn it, the more useful it is. Some universities thus require all students to learn foreign culture in university. I choose to stand with them in this regard. [开门见山表明观点]

  Body 1

Tight schedule of college students indeed stems[v. 阻止,遏制stem the tide of sth.// to stem the tide of immigration] the tide of adopting this method. Many students argue that mastering their professional courses have occupied most of their time. A weighty[adj 沉重的] fact is that they can hardly allocate extra time for foreign culture learning. However, the alleged tight schedule is de facto [adv. Actually] an excuse for not acquiring new knowledge. Once they understand the fact that culture imparts more than they have imagined, time will be distributed.

  Body 2

From students’ perspective, acquiring foreign culture in class contribute to their college study. Not only thinking pattern but also cultural values will be obtained through either textbooks or lecturer’s own experience. [either …or …结构] Culture, as the nerve center of a nation, contains the essence. For instance, a class about Grecian culture allows students to walk into the world that is so dense with literature of every stripe[各类. of all types; of all stripes] to understand the meaning of platonic ideal or the spirit of arguing the otherwise. With the gained thoughts or values in the foreign culture, undergraduates are capable of scoring better in other subjects as all courses are interrelated, entitling students more opportunities to [entitle sb to do sth.] find jobs easier and even stand out in a crowd.

  Body 3

For opening foreign culture lessons, it offers an important way to “brand” [词性活用] culture and help spread an appreciation of it across the world. As a unique existence, culture offers a major lens[镜头,这里可理解为…的剪影], a major representation, of a country. The push to promote each nation’s culture globally rides on[依赖,依靠,指望;depend on;] the younger generations as a hub of exchanges[交流的中心]. Only by incorporating foreign culture into[incorporate…into…把…考虑进去] classes in college can young adults of a country study and even research them in depth before publicizing and advocating varying cultures. Those shortsighted opponents should realize that all culture including our own one can become the content in a foreign culture class. Had universities been refused to factor foreign culture into [factor…into… 把…考虑进去]curriculums, it would be difficult to spur [v. 促进,激励; spur into action] the globalization of culture
