　　Task 1

　　The graph below shows three production in the forest industry in a European country. The production is timber, pulp and paper during the years from 1980 to 2000.

　　Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

　　「Task 1」示范：

　　The chart illustrates how much of pulp, timber and paper (in million tons) were produced in a European county from 1980 to 2000.

　　The pulp division changed markedly during these years. In 1985, it wasprosperous, with its production surged to 8 million tons (Mt.), 3Mt more than 1980’s level. This prosperity, however, did not last long, since thesubsequent years witnessed noticeable shrinkage of its production by half. The pulp production then fluctuated a little at low levels during the last decade.

　　On the contrary, timber and paper both had growing productions, and the patterns of growth were similar. Timber production had a low start and exceeded pulp production between 1985 and 1990. So was the case with paper. In addition, after stagnancy or tardiness between 1990 and 1995, those two industries developed at an accelerated pace than before. The year of 2000 saw a high level of production of timber (10Mt).

　　Overall, this country witnessed a solid development of the timber and paper divisions of the forestry and the decline of the pulp division.

　　Task 2

　　Some people believe that competitive sports, such as football, could bring people from different countries and cultures together. Others believe that competitiveness of those sports cause some problems.

　　Discuss both of the views and give your opinion.

　　「Task 1」示范与破解：

　　从“应题（Task Response）”的角度而言,The first句话可以更切题：Worldwide, athletes and sport teams from different countries assemble frequently andbattle. Although conflict is inevitable since the desire to defend the national pride may be overwhelming, the sport filed, in its essence, is not abattlefield.这句话让文脉更紧凑。 Instead, unity regardless of the diverse backgrounds is more likely.

　　Irrational rivalry may develop between two national teams as a result of two teams’ unrestrained emotion. An intense physical contract is likely to develop to conflict between players or teams. The loss of calm may also beprovoked or fueled by the media and the fans. The conflict may be brought to the daily life and put two peoples in a state that they are unfriendly or even hostile to each other off the sport field. Nevertheless,hardly can a game be as serious as a war. 这句话让呼应开头段落里的那句：the sport filed, in its essence, is not a battlefield.

　　Instead, it is more likely that people develop friendships through competitive sports. 不要像绳子一样“绕”着写。而要像针一样“戳”着写。回应题目中的competitiveness作为题目立意的核心之一： More demanding than casual exercise, the inherent competitiveness of those sports enables participants to be devoted to the game and to disregard the racial or cultural differences, and thededication经典的Coherence and Cohesion法：词性变化（上一句的be devoted to在这一句变成dedication）earns respect that is mutual between athletes of races or from different cultures. Moreover, high-level athletes, having the truesportsmanship, play a sport for the sport putting aside winning or defeat. In this spiritual state and guided by this mindset, they become friends since they compete for who has better skills rather than for the medal.

　　To conclude, competitive sports are more likely to bring people together. Conflict, which is not unlikely, is the rare case.
