TASK 1
The graph below shows changes in percentage of households owning the car in the UK between 1975 and 2005.Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
The chart illustrates the change of how many cars are owned per household in the UK over a 30-year period from 1975 to 2005.
Owning only one car was always the commonplace among UK families. This type of ownership already accounted for 40 percent in 1975, and more than half of the UK households owned one car 30 years later. Similar to 「逻辑关系的体现」 this type of ownership, owning more than two cars also had a growing / an upward trend. 「如果可以写出话语感比较好而不像纯粹介绍数据,分数更好」 However, the difference 「逻辑关系的体现」 is that the proportion of households with more than two cars grew slowly and stayed at low levels (from 5 percent to 10 percent).
On the contrary, the two-car ownership is decreasing, with the percentage dropping by half on the original level (25%), and the period from 1985 to 1995 witnessed the most marked decrease (8%). In addition, 「不要把线切碎」 having no cars became even less common overall by a 10-percent decrease, despite a slight increase during 1985 and 1995.
Overall, the UK 「还未使用过的主语」 saw a continuous increase in the households’ car possession over the years.
TASK 2
Human activities have hurt plants and animals. As a result, some people think that it is too late to take any measures, whereas some other people still believe that we should take effective actions to improve the current situation.
Discuss both of the views and give your opinion.
Many people worry that the environment has been destructed by us and it is too late to be saved. However, this point of view may be too pessimistic and underestimate the time we still have and solutions we already have.
Pollution and land degradation as a result of human activities have caused thedepletion of some species of plants and animals, and the rest are decreasing in their numbers. 【信息的进展要快】【depletion 和decreasing回应题目中的“late”】【进一步说明减少的快速,以进一步回应题目中的“late”,因为快所以来不及,来不及就是“late”】 Experts conclude that the decrease is taking place at an annual rate of hundreds of species. However, it is unfair to jump to the pessimistic conclusion that those species aredoomed. 【可以不要进一步探讨了,而是快速进入自己的主题,加快信息节奏】
As a matter of fact, humans should uphold their optimism because we still have time and have already developed methods to protect those forms of life. As the old saying goes, it is better late than never. Since we are already aware of the gravity of the loss, it is never too late as long as we can save some species. In fact, time allows us to save as many as possible because many species are yet far from extinction. Meanwhile, fortunately, humans are knowledge-enabled. For example, people possess knowledge to choose suitable areas as sanctuaries for animals’ survival and reproduction. In addition, the knowledge of chemistry and biology allows us to alter the soil to breed endangered plants. Since we are enabled, we should. 【这句话,把内容从can引向should】
To sum up, human activities pose a threat to other creatures and have caused damage. However, it is not the time we gave up. 【结尾段落的内容的简化,是为了不让信息重复造成繁冗的感觉】
