Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is impossible to be completely honest with your friends all the time. This statement may be stating the commonplace realities. First, doesn’t the following situation happen often between friends? When our friends invite us to some costly entertainment or recreation that is beyond our financial capability, we find a pretext for not being able to afford it rather than tell the truth to decline the invitation. Otherwise, both the friends and us would be awkward. There is another common instance: wouldn’t a friend feel embarrassed or even offended if we were blunt about the friend’s not-so-good outfit or a rip-off deal the friend gets? The honest comment, albeit with our earnest heart for the friend’s good, would however be unpleasant and counterproductive. Also, do we often hesitate a lot or hold our feelings in, when we are not optimistic about a friend’s romance? We are more likely to keep our mouth shut or to use very euphemistic words, aren’t we?
